The environment is no longer an issue associated with hippies and cranks but something that is now mainstream news and affects us all. It is becoming clear that we all have an individual responsibility to care for our natural environment and resources before it is too late.
So what can you do? This page aims to offer advice and co-ordination for a number of practical schemes and projects that can make a difference, however small. Please contact us if you have any ideas or information to share.
Individual actions on a day-to-day basis can make a real difference.
Avoid Products That Damage Your Environment.
Use only ozone-friendly products.
Use only bio-degradable detergents.
Use the car only when absolutely necessary.
Use only plain white paper, tissues and paper towels. Dyed paper pollutes.
Instead of ammonia-based cleaners, use vinegar and water or baking soda and water.
Use rechargeable batteries.
Recycle anything that can be recycled.
Organic Waste.
Metal of any kind.
Water.
Carrier bags and packaging.
Complain about excessive packaging to shops and manufacturers.
Buy food "loose" where possible.
Cancel delivery of all unwanted 'free' papers.
Do not put oil or petrol into the drainage system or on the ground. Take it to a local collection site.
Save Energy.
Turn off the lights in rooms you are not using.
Insulate your house.
Use the car only when absolutely necessary.
Try to use alternative forms of energy - solar panelling, windmills, clockwork, elbow grease.
